Single-use plastics disposal is a significant challenge and poses a threat to Earth. That's why, July is globally celebrated as Plastics Free July. At HEINEKEN Myanmar, where our commitment to "Brewing A Better Myanmar" is a top priority, we have successfully initiated No Plastics Thursday Campaign which we encourage employees to reduce using plastics every Thursday of July. The campaign has been a success thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our employees. During the campaign, the employees shared their own practices of reducing plastics, inspiring each other. Additionally, we invited a guest speaker from Prevent Plastics to educate our employees on “Environmental Awareness and Organizational Behavioral Change.” This session helped us better understand the importance of individual and organizational efforts in reducing plastics. Taking this opportunity, we would like to thank the guest speaker, Ma Naw Julie Aung from Prevent Plastics for a fruitful sharing session. Promoting and Raising awareness about Responsible Consumption is one of the HEINEKEN Myanmar’s commitments under the Brew A Better World Agenda. Throughout our one and half year partnership with STI Myanmar University, we consistently raise awareness and educate the students to practice responsible consumption together with the career knowledge sharing session of the experts from the different functions. This time, we hosted a virtual talk for the Business Management, and Computer Science students from Yangon and Mandalay of STI Myanmar University. At Heineken Myanmar, "Brewing a Better World" is our commitment and dedication to keeping the world sustainable. In every step we take, we consider the possible impacts on our environment and community, always looking for ways to address environmental challenges that require our attention. World Environment Day reminds us that everyone has a responsibility to keep our world green and sustainable. While reducing carbon dioxide is essential for prevention, planting trees serves as a remedy for environmental damage. On May 30, 2024, Heineken Myanmar hosted Planting Day, an annual activity to celebrate World Environment Day. This year, we successfully planted 1,000 trees, including mango, pomelo, and jackfruit, at the compound of the Full Moon Center in Mawbi, Yangon. Through this activity, we aimed to contribute both environmentally and socially, as the trees we planted can provide shelter and food to over 150 beneficiaries at the center, as well as provide financial support through the fruits they yield.
