  • The activities of the conference and exhibition “Technologies for Exploration and Exploitation of Oil and Gas in Offshore Areas (OTC)” began, in Houston, Texas, with the participation of delegations from the Ministry of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), and private sector companies operating in the field of oil and gas-related services. At the initiative of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company SMH, The energy sector established for the first time a special pavilion for Mauritania at this international conference to highlight the considerable potential of Mauritania in the petroleum, gas, and renewable energy sectors, in close cooperation with the US diplomatic mission accredited in Nouakchott. Necessary measures have been taken to organize various activities within the pavilion during the conference, alongside the numerous booths set up by private national companies to showcase their services and areas of involvement, in order to support local content and develop the national businesses and expertise in the field. During the conference, which runs from Monday, May 6th, to Thursday, May 9th, the Mauritanian delegation will hold several meetings with energy companies and foreign investors to introduce investment opportunities in Mauritania, enhance exploration and exploitation of oil and gas, and present the advantages and opportunities offered by the investment climate in the country. About Mauritania's coastal basin:  Mauritania possesses a coastal basin with significant indicators of substantial oil and gas reserves.  Recently, this basin has witnessed several oil and gas discoveries in various areas.  The Mauritanian coastal basin contains several world-class fields, notably the "Bir Allah Field" and the "Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Field," where development activities are under way, making Mauritanian marine area one of the most promising regions to invest in, especially in the field of oil and gas."

  • Here are the five main reasons to invest in Mauritania: * Abundance and diversity of resources: * Mauritania is rich in natural and mineral resources, with mining being one of its largest industries contributing to the economy. Iron, gold, and copper account for about 15% of the total GDP and around 60% of national exports. In addition to these riches, there is promising potential in the energy sector, including hydrocarbons and renewable energies. * Strategic location: * Mauritania's strategic geographical location makes it a bridge between North and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as a vital maritime hub between the Middle East and West Africa. Its proximity to the Atlantic also makes it a highly strategic and economic choice. * Attractive business environment: * Mauritania's organized and attractive business climate facilitates the implementation of large-scale projects. The recent adoption of a new investment law aims to improve and secure investment while reducing administrative procedures. * Regional expansion opportunities: * In addition to local investment opportunities, Mauritania's close bilateral relations with its regional neighbors enable foreign investors to expand their presence easily in the regional energy sector. Regional integration is at the forefront of the country's development agenda, which will not only facilitate cross-border investments but also strengthen them. * Qualified local workforce: * Education and vocational training have recently received significant attention from the Mauritanian government, aiming to create a competitive local market and reduce reliance on foreign expertise and technology. This allows foreign companies to rely on local workforce, thereby reducing labor costs and enhancing operational efficiency and innovation.

  • Partner Up! Thriving in Mauritania's Booming Economy Mauritania is on the rise! Its booming economy is creating a wealth of opportunities for international companies, but going it alone might not be the best strategy. Here's why partnering with local firms is a win-win. Across various sectors, there's a demand for expertise. From mining services to agritech, international companies can bring their know-how, while local companies provide market knowledge and connections. Let's look at some examples: Energy: International firms can help build gas infrastructure, while local companies handle permits and regulations. Agriculture: International agritech companies can introduce new technologies, and local partners can show them the ropes of the Mauritanian market. The benefits of local partnerships are plenty: Local knowledge: They know the market, the rules, and the culture, making things easier for you. Risk reduction: They can help you avoid unexpected problems. Market access: They can connect you with potential customers. Compliance: They can ensure you follow Mauritanian regulations. Remember, sustainability is key. Partner with Mauritanian firms that value responsible practices. Investing in training programs with local institutions can create a skilled workforce, benefiting everyone. By working together, international companies and Mauritanian firms can unlock a future of shared prosperity. #InvestinMauritania #SSPMauritania
