📊 The Malta Gaming Authority published its latest Skills Gap Report, offering an insightful analysis of workforce trends and challenges in Malta’s online gaming industry between 2020 and 2023. Here are some of the key highlights: 🇲🇹 75.8% of respondents rated Malta’s iGaming ecosystem positively 🎯 Most in-demand roles were marketing (21.1%) and technology (16.8%) 🏢 Nearly 80% of vacancies were at operational level, with middle management at 18.8% and top management at just 2% 📚 Barriers to entering the industry included insufficient experience and qualifications 🎓 84.9% hired from within the industry, while 25.8% recruited university graduates 💡 71.7% of firms launched in-house training programmes with 55.4% focused on boosting employee retention. 🌐 At GamingMalta, we’re always proud to showcase Malta’s business-friendly video game ecosystem to international delegations! In collaboration with Malta Enterprise, we hosted a special delegation from the UK featuring prominent figures in the gaming and immersive tech industries, including Former Head of Global Innovation at Keywords Studios Jamie Campbell, seasoned lawyer Albert Marshall who has represented industry giants like Sony, and Take-Two, as well as Martin Kenwright, Founder of immersive games company vTime. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our growing industry, the benefits and schemes available through Malta Enterprise as well facilitated a visit to showcase Malta's various facilities that support innovation, such as DiHubMT, The SuperCharger Ventures EdTech Accelerator, and our very own Basecamp incubator. Productive conversations like these really highlight the rising interest in Malta as a destination for R&D and a hub for video game operators. Exciting times ahead!
