About us

The Gozo Business Chamber was founded by a public deed on 20 December 1999, to promote the common interests of business operators in Gozo. Since its formation, the Chamber has already made several representations with the authorities on behalf of its members; collaboration agreements with the Gozo Tourism Association and the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise. The Gozo Business Chamber also published unbiased educational material concerning the effects of European Union membership and forged contacts with overseas Chambers. The Chamber is administered by a Council which is elected every two years and is made up of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Membership Officer and other members representing the different sections as well as the Chief Executive Officer. The Gozo Business Chamber is a member of the Network of Insular Chambers of Commerce of the European Union (INSULEUR) and a founder member of the Observatory of European Island Tourism (OTIE).

  • Empowering Youth: A November Recap of the Gozo Business Chamber's Initiatives This November, the Gozo Business Chamber continued its mission to support and inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders. Youth engagement remains at the heart of our work, and this month, we proudly showcased our dedication to fostering creativity and entrepreneurship among young individuals in Gozo. 📌 Youth4Entrepreneurship Gozo 2024 On November 15, we hosted the highly anticipated Youth4Entrepreneurship Gozo event, bringing together young minds to present innovative ideas addressing sustainability challenges. This year’s winner, Ħaley Xuereb, stood out with her idea, It-Tiswija: The Repair Café, a project promoting repair, reuse, and environmental responsibility. This initiative, supported by key partners like Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, the Gozo Regional Development Authority , Bank of Valletta plc, the JA Malta Foundation provided participants with the tools and mentorship to refine their business concepts. 📌 Ongoing Support for Youth Development The Chamber continues to advocate for opportunities that equip young people with the skills needed to excel in today’s evolving economy. From entrepreneurship mentoring to active participation in discussions on pressing issues like sustainability and innovation, our initiatives aim to build a brighter future for Gozo. 📌 Looking Ahead As we close a vibrant month, our commitment to empowering youth remains steadfast.   • 🌍 Advancing Sustainable Energy in Gozo through the MAESHA Project 🌟 On November 13th and 14th, Edward Scerri participated in the 9th Progress Meeting for the MAESHA project in Paris at the Euroquality - Tinexta Group offices. The meeting provided a platform to discuss key developments and outline the next steps in this important initiative. ✨ As the MAESHA project enters its final year, the focus will shift towards finalizing activities in Mayotte and the follower islands, including Gozo. 🌴🌊 We are looking forward to the outcomes of the project, particularly the analysis of how specific solutions can be replicated for Gozo, driving sustainable development and innovation on the island. The MAESHA project, funded by the EU, is focused on demonstrating various grid flexibility solutions—including technological, energy community, and market approaches—to support the growth of renewable energy and contribute to the decarbonization of energy networks.   • 🌏📚 Strengthening Global Connections in Japan The CEO of the Gozo Business Chamber, Daniel Borg, recently participated in a delegation to Tokyo and Osaka, Japan 🇯🇵, organized by Trade Malta and Malta Enterprise.   • On October 25th, Daniel Borg and Jesmond Buttigieg had the opportunity to visit the Boundless Weaving exhibition, a key highlight of the Gozo Art Project. This exhibition marks a remarkable cultural exchange between the traditional crafts of Malta and China, bridging both heritage and contemporary art. 🎨🌍 Led by Chinese ceramic artists Fofo and textile artist CN, with support from Spazju Kreattiv, and the Gozo Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo, the project featured the participation of Gozo Business Chamber Council Member Alda Bugeja.
