As #WomenEntrepreneurshipDay was celebrated last November 19, a new wave of female business leaders is reshaping the global marketplace. Based on studies, women entrepreneurs are launching businesses at unprecedented rates, with nearly 40% of global business owners now are women. Despite facing challenges like limited access to capital and breaking into male-dominated industries, they continue to forge ahead. In India, women-owned businesses are a driving economic force, creating millions of jobs and leading a growing share of enterprises. However, these businesses often remain small, rural, and informal, facing significant barriers such as gender biases and restricted access to resources. Despite these challenges, women entrepreneurs are making remarkable strides, pushing boundaries in innovation and resilience. Want to discover how women entrepreneurs are transforming the economy? Check out this article by Karan Karayi at Marksmen Daily, and explore stories of women defying the odds, overcoming obstacles, and paving the way for future leaders. Their insights offer invaluable lessons on resilience, growth, and the urgent need for policies that support their progress. 📌 Read the full article in the comment below. #DidYouKnow? Agnès Varda, a pioneer of the French New Wave, was born on May 30, 1928, in Brussels, Belgium, and moved to Sète, France, at the age of 12. Before becoming a filmmaker, she honed her artistic vision as a photographer for the Théâtre National Populaire in Paris. Over her career, she directed more than 40 films, blending visual artistry with deep explorations of human complexity. A self-described feminist, Varda brought women’s stories to the forefront, as seen in her 1977 feminist musical, “L'une chante, l'autre pas.” She won numerous accolades, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for "Vagabond," an honorary Palme d'Or at Cannes, and the Grand Cross of the National Order of Merit in France. Her iconic works, including “Cléo from 5 to 7” and the Academy Award-nominated “Faces Places,” continue to inspire filmmakers worldwide. Women still represent less than 30% of Canada’s STEM workforce, but this is beginning to change as more women pursue STEM post-secondary qualifications. Despite this progress, achieving true innovation and growth in STEM fields requires a major cultural shift across the industry. At the 2024 Catalyst Honours conference session, "Rising Innovators: Women Leading the Charge in STEM, Tech, and Trades," experts highlighted key factors for success in advancing diversity and inclusion within these sectors: ✨ Psychological safety is essential for women to thrive. ✨ Representation and role models inspire the next generation of innovators. ✨ Inclusive leaders are driving the cultural change needed to foster diversity and success. Creating more inclusive, supportive environments in STEM, tech, and trades is critical for not only boosting innovation but also achieving a more diverse, equitable workforce. Read more at Catalyst Inc. to discover how different women stories emphasize the importance of these factors to break barriers for women in STEM, tech, and trades. Link below.
