🌐 Empowering Migration Governance: UN Network on Migration Workshop for Mauritius & Seychelles IOM Mauritius and Seychelles, in partnership with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, hosted an interactive Online Workshop on the UN Network on Migration and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM). This workshop brought together key stakeholders to: ➡️ Enhance understanding of the GCM and its role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ➡️ Identify opportunities to mainstream migration in national development frameworks. ➡️ Discuss partnerships and funding mechanisms, such as the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund. With the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2024-2028) now in place for Mauritius and Seychelles, this collaborative effort highlights the importance of aligning migration governance with national and global priorities. New IOM Report Out Now! 📊 Key Findings: 1️⃣ Droughts tend to impact younger populations (average age: 18) while wildfires affect older groups (average age: 37). 2️⃣ Children bear the brunt: 29% of people in displacement areas worldwide are children, rising to 44% in Africa. 3️⃣ Populations in areas of wildfire displacement are more female (50.5% women) while those in areas of drought displacement are more male (50.9% men) Discover more about these trends and what they mean for climate resilience: 🔗 bit.ly/WhoClimateMigrants
