“I’m constantly evolving as an artist,” Nigerian Afrobeats singer-songwriter Lojay tells Apple Music. “I think my singing, writing, actual vocal delivery—everything has improved especially since [2021 Sarz collab EP] LV N ATTN. I strive to constantly keep improving as an artist and performer.” For our Apple Music Home Session series—in which we ask artists to record stripped-back versions of their biggest hits, alongside a cover of one of their favourite songs—Lojay reimagines his hits, “OVA”, from his 2023 album GANGSTER ROMANTIC, and 2022’s “Monalisa”. “GANGSTER ROMANTIC is just a special project overall, and I wanted songs that I felt would speak volumes, especially in an acoustic version,” Lojay says. Here, he also offers a cover of “Last Last”, Burna Boy’s 2022 megahit. “‘Last Last’ for me is a special song,” he says. “The song fit [my vibe] since it’s mainly about heartbreak. Burna Boy is an amazing artist and a musical genius of our generation.”
