Cage the Elephant move across their debut album with a nonchalant swagger that suggests they never have to work too hard to make every bluesy note slouch perfectly into place. The gutbucket riff outbursts of "In One Ear" and the strutting drum fills of "Lotus" are distinctly modern, but the Kentucky garage-rock group also tip their hats to the Stones and the Chili Peppers, playing loose with their funk and blues influences on forceful tracks like "Ain't No Rest For the Wicked".
