After the bourbon-gargling bravado of her debut, Kesha simultaneously doubles down and offers a glimpse of something softer on this follow-up EP. Yes, there are absurdly catchy nuggets of provocative pop (especially the spit-take-inducing outrageousness of “Grow a Pear”) but everyone’s favourite glitter-streaked extrovert proves she can also dial it down. “The Harold Song” showcases her powerful pipes and “C U Next Tuesday” (despite that title) is an understated, ‘80s-inflected marvel.
