“Everyone’s had that thing where they’ve forgotten their headphones, or left them at home, and it ruins your workout,” Joel Corry tells Apple Music. “It’s just like, ‘Oh my god, how am going to do this without my headphones?’ And that just shows you how important [music] is.” Indeed, for the DJ, fitness enthusiast and personal trainer, nothing comes close to the power of music to fuel your workout—and there’s probably no one better than him to craft the perfect dance soundtrack to keep you going. This playlist—which Corry will be updating with fresh cuts every month—blends recent releases he’s loving with nostalgic classics to help take you out of your head and reach your goals. “I put all the biggest dance tracks on there right now, so people can hear new stuff as well when they’re working out,” he says. “But at the same time, I always like to throw in a few classics. When you hear a classic come on and you sing along to it, it picks you up.” This playlist, he adds, was made as much for those who already have a well-established fitness regime as it was for those just starting out. And no matter where you are in your fitness journey, Corry’s advice for maintaining your routine is the same: just do what you love. “Everyone works hard and has long days at work. To then go to the gym and do something that you don’t really enjoy is just not sustainable,” he says. “Simple. If you find something that you really enjoy doing—it might be in spin classes, it might be pop dancing, whatever sort of fitness it is—that’s the thing that you are going to end up being consistent and successful [at]. That’s how you’re going to get results.” So, no excuses: Cue up Corry’s mix, and get out there.
