Canadian indie mainstay (and former Mac DeMarco guitarist) Peter Sagar plays it smooth on his third proper album as HOMESHAKE, coming off like a cuddly loverman perfecting his approach in front of the bedroom mirror. “Hello Welcome” sets the tone with delicately jazzy guitar, before “Call Me Up” sees him apply his cracked romantic croon to DIY R&B. The skeletal six-minute title track meanders into ambient funk, but such nonchalant genre-hopping is anchored by Sagar’s tender voice, which positively drips with feeling.
