The term “Janoska style” refers to the postmodern, imaginative way that the ensemble takes up arranging and performing well-known classics; working through a diverse range of composers, the Janoskas seamlessly fuse jazz, classical and pop tendencies to create a melting pot of cultures and dispositions. Their interpretation of Paganini’s 24th Caprice is a theme and variations that traverses their colourful influences, from its expressionist pizzicati to its jazzy, runaway melodies. Piazzolla’s Adaios Nino is also at home here, and their rhapsodic version sounds like what would have happened if Brahms and Duke Ellington had cut a record together.
