Though he opens with “Light This Party Up”, a super-catchy dose of power-pop crunch, Springfield steers his 2016 set toward modern Nashville. Songs like “That One” and “The Best Damn Thing” don’t sound very far from Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts, whose Jay DeMarcus actually helped write the jangling “Down”. “Miss Mayhem” alternates dobro-strummed verses with a post-grunge chorus, and “All Hands on Deck” is a sea shanty with fiddles. Springfield sings mainly about women he feels lucky, or not so lucky, to know.
