About Holy Holy
Passionately committed to adapting their sound, Sydney’s Holy Holy are nothing if not creatively restless. After singer/guitarist Timothy Carroll and lead guitarist Oscar Dawson met while teaching English abroad, the band channelled the familiar comforts of Bruce Springsteen and Fleet Foxes for the harmony-soaked heartland anthems of their 2014 debut, The Pacific EP. Yet even those early tracks boasted a startling upward trajectory that only increased from there. Soon Dawson was pulling out Van Halen-worthy solos against the pop-friendly snap of 2017’s platinum-selling “True Lovers”, while 2019’s My Own Pool of Light shifted the focus to percolating synths as Carroll upgraded the range and intensity of his singing to reach the proverbial back seats. The pulsing, club-directed “Port Rd” sees them more vividly chameleonic than ever before, tapping Melbourne rapper Queen P for guest fire without losing their approachability and urgency in the transformative process.
