About Josef K
Formed at the tail end of the 1970s in Scotland, Josef K was one of the finest bands in the initial wave of post-punk. Their taut, angular, stripped-down sound was in line with peers like Wire, but singer Paul Haig's accomplished, melodic vocals set him apart from most post-punk yelpers. The band released only one album before splitting, with Haig going on to a solo career, but they were enormously influential on subsequent generations of rockers, most famously their fellow Scots Franz Ferdinand.
