About Robert Palmer
Robert Palmer was a British blue-eyed-soul singer-songwriter and producer whose groundbreaking music videos vaulted him to pop stardom in the 1980s. ∙ Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley, Palmer’s 1974 solo debut, featured an all-star cast, including Steve Winwood, The Meters, and Little Feat founder Lowell George. ∙ In 1984, he joined with members of Chic and Duran Duran in the short-lived supergroup The Power Station. ∙ His 1985 hit album, Riptide, was certified double Platinum and spent 90 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 8. ∙ The video for his 1986 No. 1 hit, “Addicted to Love,” ranked at No. 8 on MTV’s 100 Greatest Music Videos Ever Made. ∙ His synth-pop smash “Simply Irresistible” earned Palmer the second of his two Grammy Awards for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male, in 1989.
