About Silent Servant

Silent Servant is the pseudonym of California techno artist Juan Mendez, aka Jasper, a founding member of Sandwell District. Released in 2006, The Silent Morning mined the experimental sound that Mendez had produced as Jasper while also drawing on associate Karl O'Connor's industrial-influenced techno. Two more 12" singles were released in 2008. As he split his time between Sandwell District and helping his wife, Camella Lobo, with Tropic of Cancer, Mendez's Silent Servant output slowly gathered pace. A handful of releases between 2009 and 2011 -- most notably El Mar and Hypnosis in the Modern Age -- saw the Silent Servant sound evolve. Released in 2012, Negative Fascination brought together all of Mendez's influences. ~ Richard Wilson
