Foals may hail from Oxford, but they share a musical bond with Brooklyn. With their debut produced by TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, the band cherry-picked influences from the NYC borough's sonically adventurous indie rock scene of the mid-2000s, forging a kinetic dance/punk/world sound that borrowed as much from African highlife as it did '80s New Wave. Subsequent albums refined this formula, with songs like "Spanish Sahara" and "My Number" proving there was little sonic territory the band were unwilling to explore.
