Between the years 2006 and 2011, Leeland set the standard for young CCM acts influenced by indie rock. Beginning with their confident debut, Sound of Melodies, the Texans built a devoted base of both young Christian and secular fans by folding the pleading choruses of praise & worship into the sorts of celestial pianos and achingly high harmonies made popular by Coldplay and Muse. A string of personnel changes eventually forced the band into an extended hiatus; when they re-emerged in 2016, Leeland sported a new label (Bethel Music) and a reimagined sound that places the emphasis squarely on their love of praise & worship.
