One of the most ferocious noise rock bands of the '90s, The Jesus Lizard earned a reputation for their confrontational live shows and uncompromising musical vision. The group emerged from the Texas punk crew Scratch Acid and recorded a slew of brutal releases with producer Steve Albini. Their music stood in marked contrast to other amiable alt-rockers; frontman David Yow swung from dark humour to white rage on a dime, while guitarist Duane Denison provided the attack plan for the punishing rhythm section. The group split in '99, but returned in '08 more savage than ever.
