Born Jack McAllister, Willaris. K made Alchemy while he was in the process of changing careers from electrician to full-time producer and DJ. The risky shift was riddled with anxieties—frustration, fear, self-doubt—and, ultimately, personal triumphs. It’s all captured here, on a debut EP that flips between dark and propulsive techno (“Risen”) and gentle, contemplative ambience (“River Song”). Field recordings, chopped samples, and on-the-fly voice memos are all twisted into textured, atmospheric music custom-built for grimy warehouse raves and late nights.
