About Total
Total’s lush harmonies and hip-hop appeal made them one of the most influential R&B groups of the ’90s. • Formed in Plainfield, New Jersey, Total scored an audition with Diddy in the early ’90s after a chance encounter with the mother of his godson, who later became their manager. • Total were one of the first acts signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1993 alongside The Notorious B.I.G. and Craig Mack. • In 1994, Total made their first appearances by providing guest vocals on “Juicy” and “One More Chance,” from The Notorious B.I.G.’s debut album, Ready to Die. • The group’s 1995 debut single, “Can't You See,” featuring The Notorious B.I.G., peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. • The following year, Total released their eponymous debut album, which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. • Their 1998 sophomore album, Kima, Keisha & Pam, spawned the group’s biggest hit, “Trippin,’” featuring Missy Elliott. The single went to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. • After a long hiatus, Total returned as a duo in 2014 with members Dyson and Long. Two years later, Epps rejoined for the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour.
