London-based multi-instrumentalist George King, a.k.a. Catching Flies, has been catching people’s attention ever since he emerged in 2012. The delicate electronic pop of “Sunrays,” a highlight from his debut EP, The Stars, turned heads with its hazy melodies and atmospheric, downtempo beats. Since then, his releases have inhabited a sonic hinterland where trip-hop meets dream pop, whether it’s the picked guitars and loping breakbeats on 2019’s “Daymarks,” the elegant dreamscapes with smooth, jazzy clarinets on “Ghosts,” or the sampled, soulful crooning of 2021’s ambient dance-floor-filler “GLY.”
