Dismember are Swedish death-metal icons. Formed in 1988, and sharing members with fellow innovators Carnage, the Stockholm band achieved instant cred with 1991’s Like An Ever Flowing Stream. Indebted to the punishing aggression of hardcore and D-beat, the album uncorks a scum-infested onslaught powered by David Blomqvist and Robert Sennebäck’s swarming riffage and drummer Fred Estby’s grinding rhythms. Although subsequent releases like 1995’s Massive Killing Capacity and 2004’s Where Ironcrosses Grow flirt with melody, Dismember have remained committed to raw punk brutality, and that’s why their fans worship them.
