Not long before Pendulum moved to the UK in 2003 to become Australia's most successful dance music export, the Perth band's core members, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, had only ever played in heavy metal bands. Following an overnight conversion to electronic and dance music, mixing in elements of their hard rock roots, Pendulum found a ready-made audience at home and abroad. Both 2008's In Silico and 2010's Immersion charted strongly, with the latter reaching No. 1 in the UK.
