In this exclusive mix from Jamaican DJ and producer Yaadcore, the goal was to create a meditative, reflective vibe to help start your day. “[I wanted] to find soothing sounds within the genre that wouldn’t get you too hyped musically,” he tells Apple Music, noting that he paid special attention to the message in each song’s lyrics. “Lyrical content is important when setting a mood and vibration.” Among his favourite cuts are Stephen Marley’s “Mind Control”, which he says has “profound lyrics that every human being can relate to, along with nyabinghi drumming”, and Prince Fatty’s “The Beat Goes On” featuring Hollie Cook, which Yaadcore calls “one of the best remakes ever done”.
