Led by the magnetic Jesús Baca, Grupo Los de la O has become an integral part of contemporary música mexicana in just a few years’ time. Collaborations with Código FN and LEGADO 7 as well as singles like “La Oveja Negra” and “Fuga Pa Cali 2” carried on corrido traditions while further shaping their future. From the tenacious team-up with sad sierreño singer Ivan Cornejo (“Mentiras”) to the eventful narrative behind “El Triple”, this third volume in their popular Pura Manzanita series more than lives up to the esteemed reputation of the prior instalments. Meeting the high bar set by 2021 fan favourite La Clase was no small task, but album highlights like “Área 81” with Gerardo Ortíz and the LEGADO 7 reunion “Seguimos Más Fuertes” demonstrate the group’s upward momentum as well as their creative growth.
