You needn’t be a student of Christianity to appreciate the majesty of the Sistine Chapel Choir. In a historic first, Cantate Domino finds the world’s oldest choral ensemble (they’ve been together and accompanying papal liturgical life in some form for nearly 2000 years) at home in the Vatican. The result is a rich and incandescent performance of sacred compositions that captures the singular feel of the room, and includes a piercing rendition of Allegri’s “Miserere”.
