LCD Soundsystem ended their career in style with a jubilant concert at Madison Square Garden. They may have been darlings of 21st-century dance-rock, but The Long Goodbye feels more like a live record from classic rock’s ’70s peak: It’s loud, sloppy (in the best way) and long. Punk-funk guitars bully steady synths; live percussion tears at the drum machine’s robotic grip. Near the end, when James Murphy and the gang drop a ripping version of “Jump Into the Fire”, it sounds like Harry Nilsson jamming with Gang of Four.
