Award-winning pianist, composer and producer Vincent Corver’s set of four beautiful piano improvisations was recorded as part of an immersive experience presented by audio company Steinway Lyngdorf to showcase the level of musical detail that could be reproduced by its Model D audio system. Corver’s brief improvisations, captured in one live take and presented here in Spatial Audio, explore the full compass and dynamic range of a Steinway Model D Spirio, beginning with the powerful ebb and flow of “Reconnaissance” before the meditative “L’hibernation” and “Vivication”, which bring the Steinway’s golden-toned middle and upper registers to the fore. The cinematic “Éclat” is a stunning, impressionistic finale that gently comes in to rest.
