About 702

The ’90s R&B trio 702 enjoyed a string of Top 40 hits, including their feisty 1999 smash “Where My Girls At?” • Sisters Irish, Orish and LeMisha Grinstead were discovered singing in the lobby of Caesars Palace by Sinbad. The comedian encouraged the girls’ parents to enter them in a music competition, where they staged an impromptu audition for New Edition/Bell Biv DeVoe singer Michael Bivins. • Bivins became their manager and suggested they change their name to 702, the area code for their hometown of Las Vegas. • 702 made their official debut with a feature on the R&B group Subway’s 1994 song “This Lil’ Game We Play”. • The group soon became a trio consisting of LeMisha and Irish Grinstead and Kameelah Williams. Their 1996 debut album, No Doubt, spawned the Top 40 singles “Steelo”, “Get It Together” and “All I Want”. •.The trio’s 1999 self-titled sophomore effort yielded the biggest hit of their career, “Where My Girls At?” Co-written and co-produced by Missy Elliott, the single reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. • 702 split up after the release of their third album, 2003’s Star.
