About Berhana
R&B singer-songwriter Berhana brings a unique poetic sensibility to his music. He got a major boost in 2018 when his song “Grey Luh” was featured on the FX series Atlanta. • Amain Berhane’s family is of Ethiopian descent. Despite a slight difference in spelling, his stage name is based on the pronunciation of his surname. • After high school in Atlanta, Amain relocated to New York City to study film at The New School. • “Grey Luh”, the closing song from Berhana’s eponymous 2016 EP, has earned tens of millions of streams. This is due in part due its featured spot in the “Money Bag Shorty” episode of Donald Glover’s Atlanta. • Berhana’s song “Janet” references Janet Hubert, who played “Aunt Viv” on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air before being replaced by a lighter-skinned actress. The song—which uses the Fresh Prince controversy as a metaphor for a breakup—has surpassed 50 million streams across platforms. Hubert herself gave props to the song on social media.
