About Francisco Correa
Guitarist Francisco Correa has been praised internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. An enthusiastic advocate for new music, especially from his native Colombia, he has collaborated with numerous composers and been the dedicatee of several works. Correa regularly performs with his wife, flutist and mezzo-soprano Emily Andrews, as the Correa-Andrews Duo. With guitarist David Massey, the three combined to form CarmenCo in 2019. Correa made his recording debuts that year as a soloist (with Música de la Tierrita) and with CarmenCo on that group's self-titled release. By winning the Ibermúsicas Funding Award in 2020, Correa was able to commission and premiere Barreiro's Suite Warmikuna, written to honor four socially and culturally important Ecuadorian women. The award included funding for a recording of the work, which was issued in 2021. Correa followed that with Winterbourne in 2023.
