About Maybeshewill
An electro-tinged, cinematic, instrumental post-rock quintet from Leicester, England in the vein of Mogwai, Sigur Ros, and M83, the seeds for Maybeshewill were sown in 2005 when guitarists Robin Southby and John Helps met while studying together at University. Enlisting Tanya Byrne on bass guitar and Lawrie Malen on drums, the newly minted quartet issued an independent four-song EP titled Japanese Spy Transcript in 2006, which caught the attention of Nottingham's Field Records. After a short period of unrest, which saw the departures of Byrne and Malen and the arrivals of drummer James Collins and bassist Andrew Jackson, the group began work on its debut long-player. The resulting and well-received Not for Want of Trying arrived in 2008, followed shortly by Sing the Word Hope in Four-Part Harmony in 2009. The band's third studio album, Was Here for a Moment, Then I Was Gone, featured the talents of Collins, Helps, Southby, Jamie Ward and Matthew Daly, the latter two relatively new to the fold. The band maintained that core lineup for their fourth album, the Superball Music-issued Fair Youth. ~ James Christopher Monger
