About Ohmega Watts
Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised mainly in Queens and Florida, Ohmega Watts (or Milton Campbell to his parents) began his career in Orlando, where he began crafting his MC skills in the early '90s. Around this time he also began exhibiting an interest in beat-making, idolizing the stalwarts of that day such as Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor, and the RZA. This long-tenured, multi-influenced journey first came to fruition on Watts' 2005 debut, The Find on Ubiquity Records. The Find was an organic album, written and produced by Watts and bearing a strong ideological resemblance to fellow Brooklynite Jneiro Jarel's Three Piece Puzzle (though by then Watts had firmly established himself in Portland, OR, where he had moved after graduating from art school in Florida). Watts' use of live instruments and old-school sampling evoked a Native Tongues vibe, and Watts then went on to supply production work on his crew Lightheaded's debut, Pure Thoughts. His sophomore full-length, Watts Happening, was released in 2007. ~ Vincent Thomas
