Paul Cardall

About Paul Cardall

A classical and jazz pianist who plays Christian and New Age instrumentals, Paul Cardall is known for his own works as well as for his arrangements of traditional hymns. ∙ Cardall began playing piano as a child, and in high school he started writing songs to express his grief after a good friend was killed in a car accident. ∙ In 1994, novelist Richard Paul Evans asked the pianist to write a musical adaptation of his bestseller The Christmas Box, and the 1999 album was Cardall’s first success. ∙ The 2011 LP, New Life, celebrated the transplant he received in 2009, after living with congenital heart disease for more than 30 years. ∙ He has scored four chart-topping New Age albums, including 2015’s 40 Hymns for Forty Days, which stayed in the Top 10 for almost a year. ∙ A New Creation, his 2016 LP, featured vocals by tenor Nathan Pacheco on “Gethsemane” and Cardall’s piano cover of Harry Styles’ hit “Sign of the Times.” ∙ In 2019, his album Christmas won the Gospel Music Association Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year.
