Bruce Cockburn Essentials

Born at the end of World War II, Bruce Cockburn has managed to stay relevant as he experimented with different styles and explored various themes. From the stripped-down folk of late '60s to his "Christian mystic" phase of the '70s, Cockburn reinvented himself in the '80s, flirting with rock and singing increasingly politicized songs. 1984's Stealing Fire was a career highlight, his first since 1979's Dancing In the Dragon's Jaws. It included world-music influences, synths and Cockburn's two biggest hits, "If I Had a Rocket Launcher" and "Lovers In a Dangerous Time". A true musician's musician, Cockburn has collaborated with legends like Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Emmylou Harris. So far, he has sold over seven million albums and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada.
