Despite starting down the musical path at a young age, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany Garcia’s career was almost derailed before gaining traction. Hailing from Toa Baja, the resilient chanteuse grew up in a family that was as religious as they were musically inclined, studying cello, guitar, chorus, and solfeggio—all before enrolling in Puerto Rico's Conservatorio de Música. While a near-fatal car crash threatened her eventual star turn on reality talent show Objetivo Fama in 2004, she ended up becoming one of the season's breakouts, and her 2007 debut, Cualquier Día, produced multiple hit singles and garnered four Latin Grammy nominations. García has stayed the course, releasing multiple follow-up albums and beckoning fans to the dance floor on incandescent cuts “Soy Mía” and “Banana Papaya”, alongside Caribbean superstars NATTI NATASHA and Residente.
