With their tough-but-sweet pop-punk hooks and infectious melodies, The Get Up Kids were a huge influence on Fall Out Boy, Blink-182 and others. The Missouri band formed in '95 and quickly ruled a Midwestern scene that included groups like Braid and The Promise Ring. Their classic second album, 1999's Something to Write Home About, had them touring with giants like Weezer and headlining shows around the world. Two more ambitious albums followed before they split in '05. They regrouped several years later, released There Are Rules in 2011 and they continue to tour.
