WILLOW: Future Generation
As we celebrate the youth this Black History Month, we look to young leaders who share wisdom with the world that extends well beyond their years. Few embody this more than WILLOW, who has been making history since she was 10, when she became the youngest artist to have a double-platinum single (2010’s “Whip My Hair”). Her specially curated Black History Month playlist features some of her inspirations, both young and old, from Childish Gambino and Erykah Badu to Esperanza Spalding and Bobby McFerrin, whose 1997 track “Circlesong 1” is included. “This song reminds me of why I fell in love with music in the first place,” WILLOW tells Apple Music. “To be able to convey such a versatile musical and emotional range with only the voice is absolutely spectacular to me. It’s most definitely spiritual.” If you hear something you like, be sure to add it to your library.
