Future’s epic mixtape run from fall 2014 through spring 2015 concluded with 56 Nights, a sensational DJ ESCO effort that more than alluded to the Freebandz member’s unfortunate imprisonment in the United Arab Emirates. While not strictly a follow-up to that fan-favourite project—insofar as Nayvadius himself doesn’t make an appearance—56 Birdz serves as a spiritual sequel with labelmate Doe Boy on the mic. Together, the duo excel at layering trap lingo atop buoyant beats on tracks like “Bankroll” and “Pop It”. The aggressive bassbin rattler “Whatchutalmbout” gets deep into gunplay, while “Broken Promises” contemplates the implications of a problematic past.
