Ontario brothers Christopher and Alexandre Van den Hoef formed the project (pronounced “Dubs”) in 2012 and had their first hit within a year—the titanic Borgeous collab “Tsunami”. whose staccato synths and gated snares helped set the tone for early-2010s EDM at its most anthemic. The hard-touring brothers have remained some of dance music’s canniest channelers of contrasting styles and moods, juggling hardstyle, tropical house and melodic trance while corralling collaborators as varied as 2 Chainz, blackbear and Aloe Blacc.
