About Park Hyo Shin
South Korean singer Park Hyo-Shin is an emotive performer known for his sweeping approach to adult contemporary pop and ballads. Emerging in the late '90s, Park has issued a number of chart-topping albums including 2001's Second Story, 2004's Soul Tree, and 2019's Goodbye. Born in 1981 in Chungcheongnam-Do Yesan, Park began singing at a young age, performing at his parent's restaurant. As a teenager, he competed in various music festivals, winning awards and gaining further visibility. It was also while in high school that he began training with guidance from composer Hwang Yoon Min. In 1999, he released his debut album, Things I Cannot Do for You, which sold well and earned him the South Korean Golden Disk Award for Rookie of the Year. More hugely successful albums followed, including 2001's Second Story, 2002's Time Honored Voice, and 2004's Soul Tree, all of which found him further growing in maturity and sophistication. Also in 2004, Park released a popular cover of Mika Nakashima's song "Snow Flower," which was originally from the soundtrack to the KBS TV Drama I'm Sorry, I Love You. Park's fifth full-length album, The Breeze of the Sea, arrived in 2007 and featured the hit song "Memories Resemble Love." The following year, he paired with the Hwang Project for the song "Zoltar's Castle." He then returned to his own work with his sixth album, Gift, which was originally released as Gift, Pt. 1 in 2009 and Gift, Pt. 2 in 2010. Included on the album was the number one track "After Love." He then followed with several singles, including 2014's "Wildflower" and 2015's "Shine Your Light." In 2016, he released the studio album I Am a Dreamer, which reached number three on the South Korean charts. More non-album tracks followed, including 2018's "The Other Day" and 2019's "Goodbye." ~ Matt Collar
