Thabsie

Bathabise Biyela, professionally known as Thabsie, is a South African R&B artist who croons about relationships over modern trap soundscapes. Born in Cape Town in 1992, Thabsie started singing in the church as a youngster. In the early 2010s, she grew into a backing vocalist for artists such as Donald, Black Motion and ProVerb while working as a banker by day (she later left to pursue music full-time). Thabsie’s big moment came when she appeared on hip-hop star Kwesta’s 2016 hit single “Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe”, where she sang earnestly about enduring the ups and down of relationships. Thabsie released her debut album, Songs About You, in 2017 and has since grown to become one of South African R&B’s brightest stars, thanks to her honest lyrics and her classic, genre-crossing voice.
