Early Hours can mean a few different things: Are you winding down after being up all night, or are you just rising to meet the sun? For the fast-rising curator Annabelle Kline, who DJs under the moniker Annabelle, it was the latter—a chill soundtrack she describes as the most precious part of your day. “Mornings are a daily opportunity for me to return to myself and establish a foundation of gratitude,” she tells Apple Music. “Early in the morning, the day is a blank canvas to be filled with love and joy. This set was assembled to feel slow, cosy, empowering, empathetic and uplifting. It’s full of hip-hop, alternative R&B and neo-soul, with lyrics that focus on positivity and encouragement.” Among her favourite cuts: Sampha’s “Spirit 2.0”, which Kline says has kept her “centred in moments of great chaos,” and “Everybody Touch It” by the LA-based duo J*Davey. “Their production sounds otherworldly and has introduced me to a level of groove I truly did not know was possible,” Kline says. “This song has me dancing around the kitchen as I make my coffee. It’s a great one for dropping into your body and getting excited about movement.”
