When Lil Kesh (born Keshinro Ololade) made his debut, the street-pop maven was a fresh-faced 19-year-old with one of the hottest songs in Nigeria, 2014's "Shoki", which went on to enjoy remixes featuring the industry’s biggest stars. Since then, he has undergone a personal and artistic evolution that coalesces on Rhythm and Tunes. This 2023 version of Lil Kesh shifts away from the gritty and raw flow that informed most of his 2016 debut album, Yagi and leans into the relaxed attitude displayed in 2020's Ecstacy EP with a breezy flare. “Rhythm and Tunes is an expression of pure and ecstatic vibes,” he tells Apple Music. Across six tracks, Lil Kesh offers a more balanced and confident understanding of his journey and prowess as an artist. "Because I came, I saw, I conquered/My light is forever gonna shine," he assures on the hook of "Don't Call Me" alongside Zinoleesky. On "Feeling Funny", he enlists recurring collaborator and fellow ex-YBNL label mate, Young Jonn. Joeboy and Chike also lend voices ushering Lil Kesh’s awakening in the pursuit of love and joy.
