“Bubblin”, the Anderson .Paak single that preceded “Tints”, was so full of energy (and dexterous rapping) that it inspired a remix from the reigning king of verbose bangers himself, Busta Rhymes. “Tints”, however, is .Paak back in the style where he made his name, singing cheerily over a funky bassline about the necessity of respecting an artist’s space. Kendrick Lamar dazzles in the second verse, distilling the two-sided coin of adulation: “Bitch, I'm Kendrick Lamar, respect me from afar.”
