About Floorplan

Together as Floorplan, Detroit techno veteran Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric create uplifting dance music rooted in gospel and soul. As the name implies, this material is geared toward the club even more than Hood's work under his own name or pseudonyms like Monobox or the Vision. Hood first used the name as a solo project in the 1990s, emphasizing techno and house's roots in soul, disco, and funk via looped samples of artists like Kool & the Gang. He returned to the moniker in 2010, refocusing the project to incorporate gospel influences. The acclaimed full-length Paradise appeared in 2013, producing the major club hit "Never Grow Old." Floorplan became a duo in 2016 when Lyric officially joined, and they released the project's second album, Victorious. The pair went on to issue the 2019 album Supernatural, 2024's The Master's Plan, and several additional singles.
