In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Some friends who knew I played guitar, invited me to go see a blues concert at The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, CA. It was my first experience seeing live blues. The artist was Lightnin' Hopkins and The Hollywood Fats Blues Band. I was 17 years old. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jimi Hendrix, Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts (Live) Jimi Hendrix still blows my mind, and this record is the complete New Years Eve concerts at The Fillmore. It really show Hendrix' genius, and multiple versions of his songs. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Riverside” I wrote this song about The Riverside Hotel in Clarksdale. I stay there a lot, and it used to be a hospital, and it's where Bessie Smith died after her car accident in 1937. Zee Ratliff owns it now, and it's like going home every time I visit. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I backed up Koko Taylor one time in L.A. Afterwards, Marie Dixon who had watched our opening set with Koko, came up to me and said that Koko leaned over to her and pointed to me and told her, "Now That's a REAL guitar player." That was everything. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There is too much. I've done a lot of what I wanted to do, but I think of new things every day. One of my goals to to score a movie, so we'll see how that unfolds. Every day is a new opportunity to reinvent your world.
