Manuel Medrano is a Colombian pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, flute, piano, trumpet, and violin. ∙ Medrano got his first guitar as a Christmas “punishment” instead of a video game console, because he had failed a year in school. ∙ The video for his 2015 acoustic ballad “Bajo el agua” has garnered more than 400 million views. ∙ In 2016, he won a pair of Latin Grammy Awards: Best New Artist and Best Singer-Songwriter Album, for his self-titled debut LP. ∙ “Cielo,” Medrano’s 2020 dance-floor-ready collaboration with Chic’s Nile Rodgers, hit No. 3 on Billboard’s Mexico Pop Espanol Airplay chart.
